(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Ali Akbar Salehi said Tuesday in the opening ceremony of the foreign ministerial meeting of 16th NAM summit in Tehran, "The NAM document should be indicative of the interests of countries and pave ground for the members to access their interests."
Appreciating Egyptian successful presidency during the past three years despite challenges before the country, Iran's foreign minister said, "Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes on the movement's principles."
Stressing the peaceful end of differences, the Iranian official added that the Non-Aligned Movement has always sought peace and multilateralism in the ties of countries, and that this should be revived and updated to meet the expectations.
Elsewhere in his remarks the Iranian foreign minister said that the current challenges are much more complicated than the cold war period adding, "Today we face challenges stemming from globalization. The world trade has got great importance urging us to know that we must take active part in assessing issues."
Saying that the issues of sustainable development are very important, Salehi noted, "Living in a new climate, we should make use of national experiences to look at the climate so as to respond to the needs of the movement."
